Priming techniques involve rapidly and incidentally exposing respondents to certain stimuli (ads, brands, packaging, etc.), then asking the respondents to evaluate their emotional response to neutral stimuli. The emotions triggered by the incidental "prime" stimuli can alter the perception of the neutral "target" stimuli in ways that can be quantitatively evaluated.
